HI there First of all I would love to thanks you for your beautiful work. You are a very talented artist and I find myself drawn to your page on a daily basis. I recently created a page on facebook called (Fantasy Art Addiction) where many artists show off their work, and I advertise their work on my wall too. The page has been a HUGE success and I would be honored if you would join the page and show off some of your wonderful work on there too? Many thanks, Mel xxx
While the image is beautiful, I would seriously reconsider the use of text.
The text is very out of place. The font itself is... well, very common, to put it lightly. It feels very tacky. It awkwardly doesn't match the image in color, style or tone of the text itself. There's no attention to size or spacing.
I'm not going to address the haiku itself, instead I'll just point out that the topic has nothing to do with the image's contents. Seriously. Crows, empty barren landscape, woman in black and then there's relentless enemies and refusing to budge. They're not related at all.
The text feels like it was just slapped on in Paint by someone who found the image on Google, thought it was cool and wanted to share some haiku they were so proud of that they couldn't be bothered to use related free stock or typography (honestly, typography would've been the epic way to go).
The apparent skill level between the text and image are so vast that they're obvious even in the thumbnail. I honestly came here expecting it was stolen and readily prepared to report it. The moderators do remove things without proof of an original if the edits made are so amateurish that it's obvious it was stolen. So... you know, watch out. I didn't report this but someone else might.
Cedarbox... ~Lucificent 43 minutes ago @cedarbox...What a fool's folly that your opinion is...state here for all to ridicule. It is obvious that you do not know anything about the artist you are critiquing. My oh my! It would serve you right to put on those jack boots and swastika as you type your "report" to Deviant. Actually, Phatpuppy is one of the artists from whom OTHERS have been stealing. Your comments, so full of self-righteousness and ego expose you for the sour grapes person you are! That pseudo-intellectualism of yours smacks of someone doing someone else's bidding...sort of like a lackey. It also reveals an incredibly insecure individual at heart. As for the haiku...who is equipped to critique another's expression of sentiment in whichever way he/she chooses?! I imagine you would criticize e e cummings (Yes, cedar, that IS how his name is printed - NO caps) for his lack of punctuation and capitalization. Get a life!
Think C.S. Lewis: “Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival" and "A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you're looking down, you can't see something that's above you..." If anyone is a superb candidate for reading Lewis, it is YOU, Cedarboy...er box!!!
I honestly don't care if others have been stealing from the artist. It's unfortunate, but it's not my problem. My comment was regarding the quality of this particular piece of =Phatpuppyart's gallery. That's it.
You're free to assume whatever you wish about me simply for leaving constructive critique, however unreasonably antagonistic as your assumptions may be, that's your right as an intelligent human being. However, do keep in mind what critique is and that it was not intended for you.
